For those of you who have started dabbling in learning about the internet or developing a web site, or starting some Affiliate Programs, you will have discovered that everyone has a registration process they want you to go through. I can tell you from experience, that I became very overwhelmed with remembering all the required information I used during the registration process. This would include things like, who referred me to that site, what the site name was, what date I purchased the program, what user name did I choose, what password did I put and so on and so on. An example of why you would need to keep track of all this data, check out my main web site: www.parkhurstprobizinternational.com and look at all programs I have involved my business in. There is no way I would be able to remember all those user names and passwords without effectively documenting.
So if you are not using Microsoft Excel you may wish to learn how to set up a page just for organizing this information. Start with a fresh new page in Excel. I named my page Software Registrations, and put this on the first line in the first box. The next line will go your columns, starting with the first box in the next line. (P.S. If the name exceeds the length of the box you can lengthen the box by putting your cursor over the horizontal dividing line on that column, on the line the name is on, and drag it to the length you need).
Here are the column names that I used in my Software Registration page.
#1. Name of Software; #2 User Name; #3 Password; #4 Owner of the Software; #5 Email address of Owner; #6 URL Link; #7 Date of Purchase; #7 PLR (Put Yes or No); Membership Site Level (Put Bronze, Silver or Gold Etc. ) Affiliate (*Put Yes or No); #8 Affiliate URL Link; #9 Bought From; #10 Purchase Price ( Put Price, or Price per month, or Free. If the software involves installing onto your web site you may wish to add a column that says, #11 Installed (Put Yes or No).
I make a habit of loading each new registration into the file in alphabetical order. In order to do that simply right click on the line where you want it to go on the very left side box, a menu will fall down. Choose insert and voila a new line will be placed right where you want to put your new registration.
I have saved myself hours and hours of time not having to remember or look up my Login or User Name or Password info that I used for a specific product membership.
A second tip that I have found invaluable is to print off a copy of every software Splash Page that I purchase, complete with the One Time Opt-In Page and Sign Up page and Invoice prior to signing off the registration site. I then hand write on the top of the print off, the price I paid for the software, the contact email and who I purchased it through. This way I can always track the product back to the original email that sent me to the Splash Page.
In the last year I have registered with literally hundreds of sites, many of them free and many of them with one time membership fees and some with monthly membership fees. By writing this on the top of the printed copy of the product I won
